ABOUT US

WELCOME  to my 'Ferngullycats' website. I hope you will enjoy browsing through the pages and enjoy looking at our very special cats.

My name is Nina and i live in West Sussex, close to the sea. I am a small breeder of Tonkinese, Oriental and Siamese cats and have been enjoying this wonderful rewarding hobby for some 14 years. My love of these beautiful, loving and intelligent cats started over 30 years ago when i bought my very first Siamese, a wonderful blue pt named 'Aquarius Celestial Blue'. Since then my love affair and interest in all of the Oriental type breeds has grown and my household has become enriched with Tonkinese, Oriental, Siamese and my one precious little Burmese 'Zoe' .... I am totally smitten !!!

At Ferngully our priorities are: 1st our cats and kittens, 2nd our prospective kittens new families and 3rd ourselves. Foremost the cats/kittens health and happiness is paramount and to this end we will always try to match up the right kitten with the right family ensuring that as far as we are aware the kittens leave the Ferngully household as happy, healthy, contented and well adjusted little babes going to loving and permanent homes.

Our queens all have a life inside with the family, they are never kept outside AND are treated as loving pets as well as being breeding queens. We do have a small nursery for the kittens and new mums when they are very tiny. Once out of the kittening box and able to run around they are allowed free roam of the whole house with their mums to interact with the rest of the family. This way they get used to human and other felines, actively seeking out the company of people and enjoy being handled and cuddled. I love each and every litter of kittens and still find it hard parting with them when the time comes for them to move onto new homes. Breeding kittens is a wonderful experience and a responsible hobby. It is a true labour of love and NOT as many people think a quick and easy way of making money, infact it is quite the opposite. There are times when it is heartbreaking and expensive and anyone considering going into cat breeding should think long and heard before entering into such a commitment. Many breeders refer to it as being a roller-coaster ride, full of ups and downs, highs and lows.

As before with ferngully studs every effort is made to ensure a stud boys life is NOT one of solitary confinement.  He will have loads of affection lavished upon him and several hours per day spent in his company. His quarters are not cramped and they are heated with a radio for comfort when no-one is with him. His house is a good size , warm and cosy and his run is large allowing for space and shelves and climbing apparatus etc. to give stimulating surroundings. A nice outlook in the large garden itself which has plenty of interest and wildlife especially in the summer months. We always aim to keep our Ferngully stud a happy and contented lad ..... and thats without his visiting queens !!

So to sum up - do enjoy looking through our website pages. Please take 5 minutes to read through our breed profile on the wonderful friendly 'Tonkinese' (every home should have one!) and the photos of some of our fabulous Orientals past and present. The Ferngully nursery page will be updated regularly with photos of new litters as and when they arrive.

Finally i want to thank Owen for his continued support over the past months and also my daughter Becky for putting up with her mums passion for cats and kittens over the years.
I am looking forward to breeding some special Oriental, Siamese and Tonkinese kittens over the next few years and hope that i may get back into showing again soon (its been a while !).
Please revisit my website from time to time and catch up with all the news.
Thank you and enjoy ............................................................
